Service Day 2019

On Saturday, November 16, we will host a church Service Day where we will send out members of our church to volunteer with different service projects around the city. We'll meet at church at 8:00am for a brief orientation then have teams carpool to the different project sites from there. If you're interested in participating, click here to fill out our online RSVP form. You can learn more about the various service opportunities available below!

Volunteers will work to restore Olivia Canyon in City Heights by caring for native plants, removing invasive plants, and removing trash and debris from restoration areas.

    • Wear sturdy shoes or boots (closed-toe shoes are required), comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty (long pants), and a hat for sun protection. Bring a water bottle and sunscreen, too!
    • These events are flexible, but we ask that volunteers are comfortable with hiking short distances, bending, and physically removing weeds with hands and tools.
    • Volunteers under 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver. We will send this out to all who RSVP and make a few copies available at our morning orientation meeting.

Join Surfrider Foundation for a beach and street cleanup in Imperial Beach.

    • Surfrider will have supplies on hand, but asks you to consider bringing your own as supplies are limited. By bringing your own reusable gloves, reusable bag/bucket and/or reusable water bottle, you help create zero waste cleanups.
    • Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes and sunscreen.
    • All volunteers must sign a liability waiver (SDFC will provide to all who RSVP for this opportunity). Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the beginning of the cleanup to sign a liability waiver before the minor can participate.
  • Generate hOPE

Help with maintenance and beautification projects at Generate Hope's shelter for survivors of human trafficking.

    • The shelter's location is confidential and will only be provided to members of the work team that is assigned to this opportunity.
    • Volunteers will be required to sign liability and confidentiality waivers to participate.
  • Living water church of the nazarene

Help to prepare for a homeless feeding event at our partner church in Downtown San Diego.

    • We will be partnering with New Visions church for this event.
    • Living Water Church of the Nazarene serves a large portion of the homeless and low-income communities in East Village.
